Lieutenant
Harold Dickinson was one of those killed. He came to South Africa as a Trooper
with the First Contingent and took part in the charge at New Zealand Hill on 15th
January 1900, near Colesberg, under Captain William Madocks. He was one of the
men with South African experience, now an officer, who joined the Seventh
Contingent in New Zealand.
