Three days later nearly six hundred Boers under Commandant Jan Meyer surrendered to the Imperial Light Horse, part of Colonel Sir Henry Rawlinson’s column, on the farm Strathnairn in the Harrismith district. Langverwacht was thus the last engagement of any consequence in this part of the Free State.
