The survivors had their picture taken too – probably when they had all returned to New Zealand. William Roddick’s name appears on the headstone on his mother’s grave in Timaru, New Zealand. Only a monument since he was interred at Langverwacht and now surely lies in the garden of Remembrance in Vrede with his comrades.
